The Philippine Men’s National Team face unbeaten Group A leaders Syria once again in the second round of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 / AFC Asian Cup China 2023 Preliminary Joint Qualifiers tonight 19 November at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Stadium in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Following their 2-1 win in Male last Thursday, the Azkals sit at 7 points after four matches, level with China PR on points.
However, with the Chinese taking a bye in match-day six, the Azkals can provisionally jump to second place with a result which can give them a fitting end to the year.
Syria won their first four matches in qualifiers and they are hoping to extend the gap, after coming off a 2-1 win over China last week.
Revenge will be the theme for Goran Milojevic’s side. The Philippines yielded to the Syrians, 2-5, in their opening World Cup qualifier match last September in Bacolod.
“We look into learning from our mistakes, and the next game will be a proof of it,” said captain Stephan Schrock ahead of the match.
Kick-off is set at 4:00 PM local time, 10:00 PM, Philippine time.
