The Philippine Football Federation, its officials and staff, join the Philippines football community in offering its condolences to the family and friends of Ignacio “Iñaki” Vicente, Jr., who passed away last 9 January 2020.
One of the renowned football players in the past, Vicente was part of the Philippine Men’s National Team in the 1970’s, particularly in the qualifying rounds for the 1972 and 1976 Olympic Football Tournaments and the 1974 Asian Games Football Tournament.
Following his retirement as a player, Vicente turned on a new leaf by spearheading the development young players as general manager of Kaya FC – Iloilo’s Youth Academy.
PFF president Mariano Araneta, Jr., who was one of Vicente’s contemporaries, hailed the life of the former national team player.
“He (Vicente) showed what it took to be a football player, and he has moved further by becoming a coach whose aim was to develop and nurture the young players,” said Araneta. “Our thoughts and prayers to his family; Inaki’s vast contributions to the sport will be forever remembered.”
The PFF extends its condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Vicente and request the football community to pray for the repose of his soul.
