Defending Philippines Football League champions Ceres-Negros FC claimed a vital point in their AFC Cup 2020 Group G clash after a 2-2 draw against Vietnamese side Than Quang Ninh last night, 25 February 2020 at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.
Despite Ceres getting the better share opportunities in the first half, Than Quang Ninh took the lead in the 26th minute. Jermie Lynch sneaked past the Ceres offside trap to convert from close range after the delivery from Nguyen Hai Huy.
The Negros side eventually found the back of the net to end the first half with the scores level. Bienvenido Marañon slotted home the penalty after he was fouled inside the box.
OJ Porteria, who has been one of Ceres’ main offensive threat this season, made it 2-1 in the 62nd minute to give the Busmen the lead. However, a 70th minute equalizer from Hai Huy meant that the points was shared between the two sides.
Ceres-Negros remained on top of Group G with four points. Their next match will be against Indonesian side Bali United on 11 March 2020 at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.
