The team from National Capital Region FA advanced to the final of the PFF U15 Boys National Championship after a comprehensive 4-0 victory over the team from Mount Apo RFA Wednesday afternoon, 26 February 2020 at the PFF National Training Center.
A four-star performance by the players of coach Richard Leyble help set up a dream final against Negros Occidental FA. NCR’s Umi Martin Abelarde put up a masterful performance in front of goal scoring two goals together with Andrei Gonzalez, and skipper Dominic Tom en route to the win.
Abelarde put NCR ahead in first-half stoppage time with a right footed shot past MARFA goalkeeper Angelo Jonasan, and completed his double in the second half with the same effort just outside of the box in the 52nd minute.
Ten minutes after coming on for Sebastian Lizares in the 54th minute, Andrei Gonzales added a third with a curling shot, before Tom put the finishing touches in the 86th minute.
“We’re very thankful for the players, they played well and followed what we trained,” said NCRFA head coach Richard Leyble. “I’m very proud of these boys. Now, we’re going to prepare for the championship against Negros Occidental.”
The Final match between the teams from National Capital Region FA and Negros Occidental FA will be played on Friday, 28 February 2020 at 2:30 PM at the PFF National Training Center. The Third Place match between Davao-South RFA and Mount Apo RFA will be played in the morning at 9:00 AM.
