FIFA President Gianni Infantino expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends of Alyana Bautista, who passed away last 23 July 2020.
In a letter sent to Philippine Football Federation president and FIFA Council Member Mariano Araneta, Jr., Infantino stated: “Words seems inadequate to express the sadness we feel for this loss affecting Philippine football.”
Alyana Bautista was a graduate of Miriam High School and played for Nomads FC in the PFF Women’s League 2019. She was also the younger sister of Philippine Women’s National Team player and Philippines Football League (PFL) commentator Martie Bautista.
“Her legacy and achievements, and in particular her personality and her human qualities will not be forgotten, and she will be truly missed,” added Infantino. “We hope that these memories and our words of support may help bring some peace and solace at this difficult time.”
