The Philippine Football Federation (PFF), its officials and staff, offer their sincere condolences to the family and friends of PFF Board of Governors (BOG) Member Mr. Domingo Baluyot, who passed away on Tuesday, 24 November 2020. He was 62 years old.
Baluyot first started out as a PFF Category 1 Referee officiating in the various PFF and regional competitions in his area before becoming a refereeing instructor in the Bicol Region.
He went on to become a football administrator first as president of Central Bicol RFA, then as an elected Member of the PFF Board of Governors for Luzon first for the term 2015-2019 and again for the term 2020-2023.
As member of the Board of Governors for the term 2015-2019, he was Vice Chairman of the PFF Referees Committee, member of the PFF Membership Committee, PFF Task Force for the Department of Education, and PFF Task Force on FIFA/PFF Strategic Planning.
“Today, we lost a great football friend in Domingo Baluyot who made a significant contribution to the sport, first as referee in PFF and regional competitions, then as an administrator as Central Bicol RFA president and PFF Board of Governors Member,” said PFF president Mariano Araneta, Jr. “Toots, as he is known, to his family, friends and colleagues would always lighten the mood of everyone around him. He dedicated his life to the Beautiful Game. He will be truly missed.”
“Doming always had good ideas on youth football promotions in the provinces. As an educator, he has good insights on the youth in football. He was always a gentleman and a passionate football supporter,” said PFF general secretary Atty. Ed Gastanes.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino also hailed the life of Mr. Baluyot in a letter sent to PFF president Araneta.
“He was a respected football figure in the Philippines, his outstanding commitment and dedication will not be forgotten, and he will be truly missed,” said Infantino.
The PFF offers its thoughts and prayers to the loved ones left behind by Domingo Baluyot during this difficult time.
