The Philippine Football Federation (PFF), together with the Camiguin-Misamis Oriental Regional Football Association (CMORFA), successfully completed the PFF Basic Futsal Referees Course, which was conducted online last 20-21 February 2021.
The course was the first referee development course conducted in the Camiguin-Misamis Oriental region following the admission of CMORFA as a PFF Member Association during the PFF Congress last year.
“It was a good initiative by both PFF and CMORFA to set up an online Basic Futsal Referees Course,” said PFF Futsal Department Head Kevin Goco. “Officiating is one of the key pillars of development of every sports programme and we hope that one the participants in the course may become a FIFA futsal referee or serve as a futsal referee instructor.”
The course instructor is AFC Instructor Mr. Porferio Barlas, Jr., Ph.D. with Mr. Rey Ritaga, the first Filipino to officiate in the FIFA Futsal World Cup, as the understudy instructor.
Among the topics discussed was the FIFA Futsal Laws of the Game and the Practical Guidelines for Referees. Participants were also briefed on the FIFA Child Safeguarding Programme, which the PFF will be implementing soon.
There were 23 participants for the course, all hailing within the jurisdiction of CMORFA.
