The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) organized its first club education program for Philippines Football League (PFL) clubs through an online webinar last Friday, 24 September 2021.
This is the first part of the educational series that PFF will conduct for the seven PFL participating clubs and will cover a number of key topics that focus on club development over the next few months.
“Club education is focused not only on what happens on the pitch, but also how clubs and its players develop off the pitch by adapting to the ever changing football landscape,” said PFF general secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes. “It is important that players and club officials attend these PFF Club Webinars so that their knowledge and understanding of club football may grow further.”
The clubs were briefed by PFF medical committee member Dr. Janis Espino-De Vera on the Anti-Doping policy and regulations which are implemented in AFC club competitions and also being planned for implementation in PFF club competitions.
The second part saw PFF Referees department head Allan Martinez present to the clubs the latest updates on the IFAB Laws of the Game which will be utilized for PFF competitions, particularly the amendments on offside and handball offenses.
“We thank the clubs for their attendance in the webinar which discussed the importance of Anti-Doping in international football and the implementation of the amendments to the IFAB Laws of the Game which is enforced in our league,” said PFL commissioner Coco Torre. “Club education is crucial for the clubs’ continuous development on and off the pitch.”
“This webinar on Anti-Doping and the updates to the IFAB Laws of the Game is only the first of a series of educational programs to be offered by PFF to the clubs,” added PFF club licensing manager Andrea Laurel. “We hope that our clubs will be able to learn from these webinars as it will benefit them for season 2021/2022.”
PFF will also meet with the clubs on 30 September 2021 about the PFL 2021 Season.
