Southeast Luzon Masbate RFA, Davao-South RFA, and Negros Occidental FA all collected wins in the second day of the PFF U19 Boys National Championship First Division Group Stage at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite, and Tionko Football Grounds in Davao City, Davao Del Sur.
Group A
Cordillera RFA 1-3 Southeast Luzon Masbate RFA
SELMARFA bounced back from their opening day defeat against NCRFA with a 3-1 win over Cordillera RFA in the first match in Carmona.
The match took a turn in the opening 30 minutes with all four goals scored within a span of 11 minutes. Cordillera’s Coli Russel gave away an own goal in the 20th minute, but Ivan Silva drew level in the 24th minute.
Cogar Aban lifted Masbate to a 2-1 lead before Thoure Cantuba made it 3-1 as Masbate came away with the three points.
Negros Occidental FA 3-0 Laguna-Cavite RFA
NOFA’s opening match in the competition saw them beat Laguna-Cavite RFA, 3-0, in the second Group A match.
Negros Occidental’s Rohderick Rodriguez netted two goals in the 12th and 24th minutes and Marc Alidon added an insurance goal in the 57th minute to give NOFA its first three points of the group stage.
Group B
Davao-South RFA 5-0 Mount Apo RFA
Davao-South RFA turned it up a notch with a 5-0 hammering of Mount Apo RFA in the first game at Tionko Football Grounds.
Rhino Belonio (4’), Jhojie Fernandez (28’), Kent Sia (50’), Franczy Dela Pena (52’), and Uriel Dalapo (54’) were all on target for Davao as it goes on top of Group B with six points. Meanwhile, Mount Apo RFA remain at the bottom of the standings without a point after two matches.
SOCSARGEN RFA 1-1 Iloilo FA
Iloilo FA’s opening fixture in Group B saw them need a late goal to deny SOCSARGEN RFA the win.
Arun Jaroensaeng scored first for SOCSARGEN in the 19th minute to give them an early lead. However, with 13 minutes left in the match, Alex Doctora found the back of the net for Iloilo FA to share the points between the two sides.
U19 action continues this Wednesday 18 May 2022. Group A matchups sees SELMARFA and NOFA battle it out at 8:00 AM followed by NCRFA against Cordillera RFA at 4:30 PM. Group B pairings will have ZANDIFA against Iloilo at 8:00 AM followed by Davao-South vs. SOCSARGEN at 3:30 PM.
