Following the conclusion of the First Division last Saturday 04 June 2022, the race for national supremacy now shifts in the second division as the Luzon qualifiers kicked off today 07 June 2022 in Tarlac Recreational Park in San Jose, Tarlac, Quirino Stadium in Bantay, Ilocos Sur, and Biñan Football Stadium in Biñan, Laguna.
Group A
Central Luzon FA 2-2 Olongapo City-Zambales FA
Olongapo City-Zambales FA dug deep to net a last second equalizer to deny Central Luzon the opening day win in Group A at the .
Olongapo City took the lead in the dying minutes of the first half from Juanito Jimenez, but Central Luzon’s Dann Cauyong scored twice in the second half to take a 2-1 lead. However, Cedrick Balaoning ensured that both team shared the points with a last gasp equalizer in the seventh minute of second half stoppage time.
United City FC 2-0 Palawan FA
United City FC made a good account in their debut match after a 2-0 win over Palawan FA.
Alexis Lampines first scored for United City in the 19th minute followed by San Angelo Salingay’s strike in the 69th minute to hand the club its first three points in Group A.
Group B
Pangasinan FA 0-13 Ilocos Sur FA
Uriel Gamatan and Alvin Aguimatang netted a hat-trick each as Ilocos Sur FA hammered Pangasinan FA with a 13-0 win in the lone match at the Quirino Stadium.
Gamatan fired in the 2nd, 17th, and 28th minutes while Aguimatang scored in the 64th, 80th, and 89th minutes. Jerro Piano (36’, 42’), John Abaya (40’), Mark Urbano (47’), Kenjee Valdez (61’), Paul Arcena (75’), and Jesther Garcia (90+3’) added gloss to the scoreline.
Group C
Cavite FA 0-3 Stallion Laguna FC
Stallion Laguna banked on a comprehensive performance to defeat Cavite FA, 3-0, at the Biñan Football Stadium.
Sam Taylor (23’), Sebastian Lizares (44’), and Jared Peña (55’) all found the back of the net for Stallion, to lead Group C.
FA of Rizal 2-2 Quezon-Batangas RFA
FA of Rizal and Quezon Batangas RFA set up a nervy finish as both teams shared the points in the second match in Biñan.
John Castillo gave Quezon-Batangas the early lead in the 10th minute, but FAR’s Justin Dorado drew level in the 52nd minute. Quezon-Batangas looked to have claimed the win as Cris Evangelista scored in the 90th minute, but Benjie Mahusay equalized for FAR in the dying minutes of the match to end things at 2-2.
