The Philippine Football Federation joined the rest of the AFC Member Associations in marking the 10th anniversary of the AFC Grassroots Football Day last Thursday, 18 May 2023 at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite
The activities included football clinics and training for children and young adults, as well as football activities for persons with special needs such as Cerebral Palsy Football and Blind Football players.
Over 200 players, coaches, instructors, and other football stakeholders joined in the celebration of the AFC Grassroots Day.
In addition, several Regional Football Associations in different parts of the country have also joined in celebrating the occasion with grassroots activities in their respective areas to be held during the month of May.
PFF general secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes, who attended the activities at the PFF National Training Center hailed the success of the activity and expressed hope in the continuous development of grassroots football not only in the Philippines but also in Asia.
“The celebration of the AFC Grassroots Day in the Philippines underscores AFC’s Vision and Mission and has reinforced member associations’ commitment to further develop grassroots football in the continent,” said Gastanes. “Grassroots football forms the basis for success at all levels and we have a responsibility to enhance the football landscape to build a better and brighter future for tomorrow’s generation of football players.”
