MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) formally signed an agreement with Coca-Cola Philippines which will see the beverage company as a major sponsor of the PFF Women’s League 2023.
Launched in 2016, the PFF Women’s League is now in its fourth season, and serves as the player development programme for women’s football players who someday may represent the Philippine Women’s National Team, more commonly known as the Filipinas in international competitions.
PFF president Mariano Araneta, Jr. said: “We are delighted that Coca-Cola Philippines has partnered with PFF to support women’s football by agreeing to be a major sponsor of the PFF Women’s League. It is great to have a brand like Coca-Cola, support women’s football especially now that the Filipinas are creating history in their maiden participation in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™. We hope that his partnership can foster the development of up and coming women’s players.”
An official FIFA partner, Coca-Cola supports the FIFA World Cup™ and has also supported women’s football through the FIFA Women’s World Cup™ since 1991.
PFF general secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes said: “We thank Coca-Cola Philippines for their reaching out to support the PFF Women’s League. The brand’s presence in the league will help to attract other brands to support women football. We hope that the league will prod more young Filipino girls to play football and support the game.”
The PFF Women’s League is a women’s football competition organized and managed by the Philippine Football Federation. The league is composed of 10 participating teams coming from the collegiate ranks as well as teams invited by PFF to compete.
