The Philippine Football Federation is pleased to announce the appointment of Mikhail Kristopher “Coco” Torre as PFF General Secretary effective Sunday 01 October 2023.
The appointment of Torre, who is also the PFF Head of Competitions and commissioner of the Philippines Football League, was approved by the PFF Executive Committee last 23 September 2023 after the endorsement of PFF president Mariano Araneta, Jr.
Torre succeeds Atty. Edwin Gastanes who resigned last 30 September 2023.
“We have trust and confidence in Coco Torre, a young and dynamic leader, who has demonstrated tremendous work ethic and integrity in carrying out different roles in the PFF in the past,” said Araneta. “I look forward to a more collaborative PFF that further empowers stakeholders in our efforts to promote and develop football in the country. I look forward to working closely with him for the remainder of my term.”
As General Secretary, Torre will be tasked to handle PFF’s day-to-day administrative activities while keeping his role as PFF’s Head of Competitions.
“It is a great honor to serve Philippine football at this kind of level,” said Torre, who has previously worked at the federation’s media department and was also a key staff member of the PFL during its early years.
“I thank PFF president Mariano Araneta and the PFF Executive Committee for their trust and confidence to get the tasks done until the next administration comes in. With this, I’m very excited to work with the many stakeholders of Philippine Football such as the PFF Member Associations and Clubs, partners, coaches, fans, and most especially the players. The important aspect of this appointment is not only the tasks we can achieve in the short term but also the collaborative vision that can pave the way for Philippine football’s future.”
PFF has already informed all stakeholders, particularly FIFA, the Asian Football Confederation, and the ASEAN Football Federation of Torre’s appointment.
