The Philippine Women’s National Team capped off their memorable 2023 run by claiming its highest FIFA ranking to date moving six places up from 44th in the previous ranking to a record high of 38th in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking published last Friday, 15 December 2023.
Among the competitions that were counted in the rankings were the 19th Asian Games, where the Filipinas finished as quarterfinalists in their maiden competition, and the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament – Asian Qualifiers Round 2, where they faced Australia before a sold-out crowd.
It has been a historic run for the Filipinas brought on by their participation in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 where they mounted an upset over hosts New Zealand during the group stages.
PFF officials hailed the rise in rankings of the Filipinas and expressed optimism in the coming year with several international matches set to be calendared for the Filipinas.
