The Philippine Men’s National Team lost it’s home match 0-1 against Yemen last night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium, slimming its chances to advance in the 2018 FIFA World Cup RussiaTM – Asian Qualifiers / AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019TM –Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 2.
After a much-celebrated 2-0 victory of its away-match in June, the Philippine squad conceded a late goal in the 2nd half from Yemen’s Ahmed Al-Sarori who dribbled past the defenders and scored a goal on the 83rd minute.
The Azkals had several good attempts in the 2nd half. but were denied by Yemeni goalkeeper Mohammed Ebrahim Ali Ayash. A goal was also denied by the referee as the ball did not cross the goal line and was immediately cleared by a defender.
The Philippines will play leading teams Uzbekistan and North Korea in 2016 to finish their campaign in Group H.
