The Philippines men’s national team is set to wrap up their 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia /AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 Qualifiers campaign when they face DPR Korea tomorrow, 8:00pm at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The Azkals are coming off a fighting 1-0 loss to Uzbekistan last Thursday which saw them drop to fourth place behind Bahrain in the Group H standings.
Tomorrow’s match will be the final match of both teams in Group H. The Philippine team aims for a guaranteed spot in the group stage of the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 Qualifiers.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference earlier this morning, Head Coach Thomas Dooley said it has always been special to play at home and the team is optimistic to get three points to further the chance of not going thru qualifying matches in order to be in the group stage of the Asian Cup UAE 2019 qualifiers.
“We want to end this tournament with a win,” said Dooley.
DPR Korea team arrived in Manila last Saturday, 26 March 2016, and also hopes for a good match against the only team that has drawn them in Group H. At the moment, they are in contention to qualify for the 12 spots in the third round of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia qualifiers.
