Asean Football Federation (AFF) and Philippine Football Federation (PFF) officials visited Tacloban City and Palo, Leyte last 24 June 2016 to turnover the AFF funded schoolbuildings in Libertad Elementary School in Palo, Leyte and Scandinavian National High School in San Roque, Tacloban City.
The delegation was composed of AFF Vice President Dr. Tran Quoc Tran, AFF General Secretary Lt. General Dato Sri Azzudin Ahmad, and PFF General Secretary Edwin Gastanes.
The schoolbuildings were built using the funds donated to the PFF by the Asean Football Federation (AFF) member associations in response to the damages wrought upon the communities by Super Typhoon Yolanda in November 2013.
“It is hard to assess the damage that was brought by the storm but the important thing is that we stand up and help. We are with you.” Said AFF General Secretary Lt. General Dato Azzudin in his speech.
“More than a sport, football cares, unites, and extends a helping hand. We hope that these classrooms inspire and give hope to the present and future children of Libertad and Scandinavian.”, added PFF General Secretary Edwin Gastanes.
