The Philippine Under-16 Boys National Team were humbled by Korea Republic, 8-0, in their opening match of the AFC Under-16 Championships 2018 Qualifiers at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar.
Korea Republic took a 2-0 lead at the half, but found their groove in the second half, scoring six more goals.
Philippine Under-16 Coach Bongbong Roxy Dorlas said after the match: “”Our players played well in the first half, but Korea Republic broke our spirit in the second half. AFC competitions are of very high standard and every team is strong but we’ll keep trying our best.”
The Philippines next face China PR on Wednesday 27 September at 3:00 PM local time (4:30 PM Manila time).
