The Philippine Women’s National Team and Ceres Negros FC received citations from the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) in its Awards Night held last 27 February 2018.
The Philippine WNT made history last year having qualified for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Jordan 2018 with three wins, one draw, and one loss. Currently the team is preparing for the Women’s Asian Cup which kicks off on 6 April. The Philippines are in Group A with China PR, Thailand, and host Jordan.
Ceres Negros FC, on the other hand, established themselves as one of South East Asia’s premier clubs after winning the AFC Cup ASEAN Zone championship as well as winning the inaugural Philippines Football League last year.
“We congratulate the Philippine Women’s National Team and Ceres Negros FC for their sporting achievements last year,” said PFF general secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes. “Their achievements have emphasized the ever-growing landscape of football development in the Philippines.”
