Global Cebu FC were humbled by Yangon United, 3-0, in their AFC Cup Group G match last 7 March 2018 at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar.
Former Global player Sekou Sylla scored two goals in the 48th and 57th minute after Maung Lwin broke the deadlock in first half stoppage time.
Global put up a fight against the Myanmar side but were unable to find the breakthrough. The loss kept Global at the bottom of Group G with only a solitary point.
Despite the loss, Global Cebu head coach Marjo Allado remains positive on his team’s chances of qualifying for the knockout stages.
“We need to score goals and we need to win all our remaining matches to advance,” said Allado.
Global faces the same opposition next week 13 March 2018 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
