After three matches in the AFC Cup, Global Cebu FC face a tough assignment in Group G leaders Yangon United on Tuesday 13 March 2018 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Global head coach Marjo Allado admits that the club is in a different situation as only the top team from each group, along with the best second placed team in the region will go through the knockout stage.
“At the moment, we cannot afford to drop points to stay in the competition,” said Allado. “We will do our very best in our last three games to lift up the spirits of the players and the club.”
Last week, Yangon United came away with a 3-0 win. Sekou Sylla scored twice in the win but will be suspended for the match along with Global defender Marco Casambre.
Despite missing Casambre, Allado welcomed the return of Paul Mulders and Paolo Salenga to the lineup after an extended absence.
“We have learned from our last three games especially the last match,” added Allado. “It’s a very important game.”
Global skipper Patrick Deyto echoed his coach’s words ahead of the crucial match tomorrow.
“We haven’t won (any match) yet this group but that’s enough motivation for us,” said Deyto. “We are hungry for a win and hopefully we can get the three points.”
