Philippine Women’s National Team head coach Buda Bautista was impressed with the team’s performance in the 3-0 win over Singapore last Tuesday 3 July 2018 at the Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium in Palembang, Indonesia.
Unlike their first game against Myanmar, the Philippines fired 3 goals past Singapore to claim their first win of the tournament. Joyce Semacio, who made her first start for the national team, and Quinley Quezada scored for the Philippines with a Singaporean own goal in between the two.
“We’re happy that we won,” said Bautista after the match. “It was a good result heading to the game against Vietnam.”
Even with the win, Bautista reminded her players to keep their composure in the game. The Philippines are currently tied with Myanmar and Vietnam with 3 points, but hold an inferior goal differential.
“They have to find that composure, and they have to find their game again,” added Bautista.
The Philippines will face Vietnam on Saturday 7 July 2018.
