In their first competitive fixture since the AFC Asian Cup last January, the Philippine Men’s “A” Team settled for a 0-2 loss to China PR Men’s “A” Team last Friday, 07 June 2019 at Guangzhou Tianhe Stadium in Guangzhou, China.
China PR scored twice in either half to claim their third win over the Philippines since 2017.
Mike Ott and Stephan Schrock impressed in the loss with key chances during the match. Defender Daisuke Sato, however, picked up two cautions and was sent off in the 69th minute.
The friendly served as the team’s preparations for the upcoming Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 2 – FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 / AFC Asian Cup 2023 this September.
The Philippines will play one more match in China PR, a training match against a local club from Guangzhou, this Sunday, 09 June 2019.
