The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) celebrated the AFC Women’s Football Day with an online webinar held last Saturday, 10 October 2020.
The event honors all the involvement and contribution of women in football. The event was originally scheduled for March 2020, in line with the International Women’s Day, but was moved to a webinar due to the pandemic.
Coaches and players from six (6) teams from all over the country were invited to discuss how they kept an active and healthy lifestyle despite the varying degrees of community quarantine imposed in the country. Moderator was Coach Belay Fernando who is PFF’s Women Football department head. A presentation on how to stay fit and healthy was also presented by Ms. Candice Grey-Del Rosario to remind the participants of how to maximize their trainings during the quarantine period.
The culminating activity was the presentation of the most creative videos made by teams. These videos, which showed their training routines, and tips, at these difficult times will be submitted to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
“We at PFF are happy that a good number of our women coaches and players have participated in this online celebration of the AFC Women’s Football Day,” said PFF general secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes. “This pandemic situation is just a minor setback for all of us and we hope that sooner than later, the girls and the ladies will be back in the field and playing football.”
