The Philippine Women’s National Team was praised by His Excellency President Rodrigo Roa Duterte following their historic FIFA Women’s World Cup qualification during the recently concluded AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022.
In a message addressed to the team, President Duterte told the team how they have inspired the Filipino people to do their best in all their pursuits and how the team is now one among the world’s elite women’s teams after beating Chinese Taipei to qualify for the Women’s World Cup.
“This historic feat not only proves your talent and skills but also shows that you are a force to be reckoned with in women’s football. I am very proud to know that, with your latest victory, the Philippines has now qualified for the FIFA Women’s World Cup for the first time in history,” said Duterte.
President Duterte continued: “The Filipino people are truly grateful for the honor you have brought and continue to bring to our country. Bear in mind that you have the nation’s unwavering support as you carry the nation’s flag in your upcoming matches. I am certain your example of patriotism, talent and heart will inspire fellow Filipino athletes and our people to strive to do their best in all their pursuits. Together, let us do our best to earn glory for our beloved nation.”
