PHNOM PENH – The Philippine Under-23 National Team endured a heartbreaking 0-1 defeat to Cambodia in the AFF U23 Championship 2022 last Thursday 17 February 2022 at the Morodok Techo National Stadium.
Needing to get a result against the host to have a chance of qualifying to the next round, the Philippines came undone with Cambodia’s 81st minute winner from Sin Sovanmakara.
The Philippines, however was undeterred throughout the match and came close to claiming a shock lead with chances from Sandro Reyes, Miguel Mendoza, Oliver Bias, Dennis Chung and skipper Oskari Kekkonen all just missing the target.
The result left the Philippines with one draw and one loss heading to their final fixture against Brunei Darussalam on Sunday 20 February 2022.
