The Philippine Under-23 Men’s National Team mounted an inspired defensive performance to condemn hosts Vietnam to a 0-0 draw Sunday, 08 May 2022, at the Viet Tri Stadium in Phu Tho, Vietnam.
Coach Norman Fegidero’s side relied on the defensive performance from Quincy Kammeraad, Christian Rontini, Enrique Linares, and Jaime Rosquillo to claim a famous draw against the favorites.
Jovin Bedic could have made it much memorable upset with his header in the 11th minute, but he could only direct it wide of the goal.
Vietnam enjoyed the lion’s share of possession, peppering numerous chances on goal, but the defense held on most occasions while the Philippines banked on the counter in a bid to catch Vietnam off guard.
The result saw the Philippines remain on top of Group A with four points, only ahead of Vietnam on goal difference.
The Philippines next face Indonesia on Tuesday, 10 May 2022 at the same venue.
