The Philippine Under-23 Men’s National Team suffered a setback in their 31st Southeast Asian Games campaign following a 2-3 loss to Myanmar last Tuesday 10 May 2022 at the Viet Tri Stadium in Phu Tho, Vietnam.
Two first half goals from Jovin Bedic set the Philippines to a memorable win over Myanmar after going a goal down in the opening minutes of the match. However, Myanmar answered with two second half goals to come away with the win.
Myanmar took a shock lead in the second minute of the match. Bedic answered with two goals in the 34th and 38th minutes to give the Philippines the lead heading to the half.
Myanmar, however, would will themselves back in the game scoring in the 51st and 53rd minutes to complete the turnaround.
The Philippines chances of advancing to the knockout stages hangs in the balance as they face Indonesia on Friday 13 May 2022 at the same venue. A win over Indonesia, coupled with results going in favor of the team may allow the Philippines to qualify to their first semifinal stint since 1991.
