National Capital Region FA, Laguna-Cavite RFA, SOCSARGEN RFA, and Davao-South RFA all notched wins in the opening day of the PFF U19 Boys National Championship First Division on Saturday 14 May 2022 at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite and Tionko Football Grounds in Davao City, Davao del Sur.
Group A
Southeast Luzon Masbate RFA 3-6 National Capital Region FA
U15 champions National Capital Region FA was off to a strong start after defeating Southeast Luzon Masbate RFA (SELMARFA), 6-3.
NCR FA banked on a comprehensive performance in the second half to claim the win. Ryan Monares and John Lloyd Jalique netted twice for the capital side with Cyrelle Saut and Dominic Tom adding a goal each.
Meanwhile, Carl James Zaragoza, Jemar Andrade, and Karl Absalon scored for SELMARFA, which almost caused an upset against the NCR.
Laguna-Cavite RFA 2-0 Cordillera RFA
The other Group A fixture saw Laguna Cavite RFA claim a 2-0 win over Cordillera RFA.
Laguna-Cavite’s Vince Saludo and Kyle Escobar netted on either side of the half to claim their first three points in Group A.
Both Laguna-Cavite and NCRFA share the top spot in Group A with NCRFA ahead on goal difference.
Monday’s fixtures sees Cordillera RFA and SELMARFA squares off in the morning kickoff while Negros Occidental FA begin their Group A campaign against Laguna-Cavite in the afternoon.
Group B
Mount Apo RFA 1-4 SOCSARGEN RFA
Over in Davao City, SOCSARGEN RFA dealt Mount Apo RFA with a 4-1 win to open the campaign in Davao City.
John Rojo netted two goals while Ody Pusoc and Lionel Pingoy scored a goal each for SOCSARGEN. Mount Apo claimed a consolation goal from Kent Nayre.
ZANDIFA 2-3 Davao-South RFA
Davao-South RFA had to weather a late ZANDIFA attack to claim a 3-2 win in the second Group B match.
Franzy Dela Peña, Uriel Dalapo, and Brenndel Medina found the back of the net for Davao-South, while Mark Martel and Ramil Bation III scored for ZANDIFA, which came alive late in the second half to ensure a nervy finish between the two sides.
SOCSARGEN RFA and Davao-South RFA currently lead Group B with three points each.
The First Division continues on Monday with Davao South battling MARFA in the morning kickoff followed by SOCSARGEN and Iloilo in the afternoon playtime.
