Philippine Football Federation officials offer its support to Philippine Men’s National Team member and co-captain Neil Etheridge following reports that the goalkeeper was racially discriminated in an FA Cup match between his club Birmingham City and Blackburn Rovers last Saturday 28 January 2023 in Blackburn, England.
According to reports, Etheridge was the subject of racial abuse by Blackburn Rovers home supporters late in the match prompting Etheridge to report the matter to the match officials. The Football Association was already notified of the incident.
PFF condemns any racial abuse and believes that there should be no room for this type of behavior in football.
