The Philippine Under-20 Women’s National Team concluded their AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers campaign after a 2-2 draw against Hong Kong last Sunday at the KM16 National Stadium in Vientiane, Laos.
Robyn Dizon and Isabela Pasion were on target for the Filipinas U20 as the team finished in second place in Group A with four points on one win, one draw, and one loss.
Dizon opened the scoring in the 11th minute. Sabine Ramos’ free kick from the right flank allowed the midfielder to slot home from close range after she was left unmarked by the defense.
Hong Kong drew level in the 24th minute. Lee Alexis had three attempts on goal in quick sequence with the third chance resulting into the goal. Leung Hong Kiu Anke added a second goal in the first minute of added time with a shot from outside the box to go up 2-1.
Pasion gave the Philippines a lifeline in the 54th minute. Chayse Ying’s low cross to the box was half cleared by the defense and was received by Pasion who fired it to the top corner.
However, the Philippines had finish the match with ten women late in the game. Defender Kylie Yap, who scored the winner against Laos last Friday, was sent off two bookable offense in the 77th and 81st minute.
