PFF officials led by president Mariano Araneta, who is also attending as member of the FIFA Council, general secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes and Women’s Football Committee chairperson and PFF Executive Committee female member Ms. Lalaine Sarmiento attended the second FIFA Women’s Football Convention at the International Convention Center in Sydney, Australia on 18 and 19 August 2023.
The two-day convention, which is being held on the backdrop of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™️ Final, focused on 5 pillars of FIFA’s Women’s Football Strategy: develop and grow, showcase the game, communicate and commercialise, govern and lead, and educate and empower.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino urged its Member Associations (MAs) to, among others, ensure they are able to organize women’s leagues in their respective areas.
“We need in the next four years to create the conditions for them to be able to play at professional level at home and this is the biggest challenge we have to take on board,” said Infantino.
A series of speeches, panel sessions, and demonstrations were presented during the convention as well as the best practices needed to guide MAs to further develop women’s football in their country.
