Ceres La Salle FC, representing the Negros Occidental Football Association once again won the SMART – PFF (Philippine Football Federation) National Club Championship held from December 9 to December 21, 2013 held at the Bago City Sports Complex, St. La Salle University and Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City.
In the qualifying round, Group A’s Global FC of the Leyte Football Association and Benguet State University (BSU) of the Baguio-Benguet Football Association emerged as the top two teams respectively. Global FC topped the group 4 wins, 0 draws and 0 losses, earning 12 points. BSU, meanwhile, tied with Palawan FC at rank 2 with 6 points each from their respective 2-win and 2-loss record. BSU however had higher goal difference at -2 compared to Palawan FC’s -4.
Group B saw Ceres La Salle FC as its top team with 9 points followed by Flame United Cherifer FC of Cavite FA with 6 points. Ceres La Salle FC had 3 wins while Flame United Cherifer Fc had 2 wins and 1 loss.
In the Semi-finals, Global FC prevailed over Flame United Cherifer FC 4-0 in the 1st round and 5-0 in the 2nd. Ceres La Salle FC secured its advancement to the finals against BSU with 5-1 and 11-0 scores in the 1st and 2nd rounds respectively.
Ceres maintained its momentum in the Finals held at the Panaad Stadium with a 2-1 and 1-0 win against Global FC.
