Unbeaten in their last three matches, Philippines Football League side Ceres Negros FC faces Shan United in the AFC Cup Group F on Wednesday 14 March 2018 at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar.
The match will be the third time that Ceres will play Shan United in all competitions. Ceres won their first meeting via penalties in the AFC Champions League Preliminary Round 1, and again last week in Bacolod in the AFC Cup.
Ceres currently leads Group F with 7 points after three matches while Shan are in third place, level on points with Boeung Ket, but ahead on goal difference.
Even though Ceres won with a 2-0 scoreline last week, head coach Risto Vidakovic treats the match as their hardest fixture in the tournament so far.
“We (have) played two times against Shan United and both times it were very hard games,” said Vidakovic. “I’m expecting a very hard game tomorrow. For us we’re going to be prepared, we will work hard. I hope that my players will give everything for tomorrow.”
Ceres defender Sean Kane hailed Shan United’s defensive efforts and expects that the Myanmar side will put up another defensive stand.
“They are a very strong team because of the counter-attacks,” said Kane. “It’s going to be tough with the conditions, but we’re very well prepared for the task tomorrow.”
